View the image below to see how to Access with the little ones to the first Race of the Series
Access to kids track : Hackett side – wary of steep hill down into Majura Pines and keep to fire road (FR) and enter at Beyond the Black Stump
Majura Parkway carpark – ride across under PKWY and then along fire road – bear in mind climb up boundary fence.
COGS Kids Race at 2.30pm: Race Director Gordo Brewster
Access is a little hard and plenty of time needs to be allowed to ride across from either carpark. Both have some steep fire roads involved and parents must ensure that their children can cope with this getting across. There are no toilet facilities as well
I would allow at least 1/2hr so no one is “stressed” coming across and with the race wanting to get underway at 2.30pm aim to get to Race HQ by 2pm at the latest for Parents to fill in a participation form, pay $5, tie on race plate and go for a lap around the flat course.
Race HQ is in off Beyond the Black Stump – (just be wary of riders who need to use a little bit of the trail to go the other way (both courses are anti clockwise) and there is plenty of natural shade. Please bring in water (limited supplies will be there and fruit juice for afterwards)
Race length will be 1 lap for 5 and under, 2 laps for 8 and under and 3 laps for over 8 – this is just a participation race with random draw prizes and drinks to be given out afterwards.
If parents are staying on to ride afterwards ensure your kids are old enough to look after themselves as organisers will be busy with race logistics.
Lastly Gordo would appreciate assistance running this race as well – contact him via Facebook
Rego opens from 2pm at the Bottom Carpark (Off Majura Road)- and you must bring a copy of your license to verify – minimum age 15 – race conditions mentioned below

Did I mention Prizes? Monkey Wrench Cycles is sponsoring the race series with loads of prizes to be given out randomly
This COGS Race Series have been set up such that likeminded people can ride a course that has a few challenges that they would ride with their friends on a weekend ride.
This course does have a few technical sections as well as downhill sections that need to be ridden sensibly within a rider’s capability such that we all return home after the race without serious injury. Triple arrows will be placed indicating the technical sections but please ride within your capabilities as there are no prizes for axing yourself or coming first.
All riders need to ensure that they feel comfortable riding this sort of terrain because this is the type of course that we organisers will be setting during the race series, hence the 15+ minimum age. There are other races being held catering for mainstream riders with timing which may be better suited to some riders.
